Abstract

As the number of connected devices in the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem grows, the need for efficient data processing has led to the rise of edge computing. This paper explores how edge computing reduces latency, enhances data security, and optimizes bandwidth usage by processing data closer to the source. We discuss key applications in healthcare, industrial automation, and smart cities while highlighting challenges such as security risks, infrastructure costs, and standardization. The study concludes that edge computing is a critical enabler of real-time, intelligent decision-making for next-generation digital systems.
